BB Safe | Safeguarding Culture & Compliance
The world of legislation and compliance is large and confusing at the best of times. We want to help provide you with the resources to help point you in the right direction.
Here are a few of our most common questions, but please feel free to reach out and contact us to find out more.
Many safeguarding providers have a focus on compliance – you will hear words like “audit”, “regulation”, “risk management”. Of course, these things are important however, at BBSafe, our focus is on culture. You can have all your compliance boxes ticked, but if people don’t understand why they are doing the thing, compliance can only take you so far.
By working with culture, we help everyone in the organisation understand the specific risks in their organisation, and what safety means in that context. If you have a great culture, your compliance takes care of itself, because everyone is striving for safety at all times.
Yes. We can review incidents and make recommendations for ways to improve your culture, systems and processes in future. We also help you respond well to incidents and support your clients and work teams as you work out what has happened.
There is no official “accreditation” for safe organisations. The organisations we work with will be supported to achieve their legal compliance, but more than that, they will live and breathe the values and culture of prioritising safety. The commitment to safety will be evident on their websites and in their client material.
Our website has blogs, links to webinars, surveys and resources. We are regularly adding new content. Please subscribe to our newsletter to stay abreast of developments.
If you have concerns that a child or vulnerable person is being harmed or is at risk of harm, please contact police or child safety authorities in your state. These people are the experts – they will help you work out what to do next.
If you or someone you know needs support in relation to abuse or sexual abuse, please contact Lifeline on 13 11 14 for 24/7 crisis support or the Blueknot helpline on 1300 657 380 9am-5pm Monday-Sunday
Yes, please get in touch and we can work through what will work best for you, noting your risks and resources.
Yes, absolutely. The BBSafe process includes helping you identify all standards, legislation, regulation and requirements that apply in your context. But more than that, we will help you understand what it means in your context so that standards can be meaningful and contribute to cultures of safety.
Yes. We can help you meet the requirements, and also look at the learning opportunities that come from reporting and understanding what has happened when an incident occurs.
